Kids Yoga In Jacksonville, FL

BABAR' S YOGA was the theme for our kids yoga class.  We begin with introductions at the singing bowl. The children have been practicing yoga with me a long time so they are all friends, but we often have stuffed guests joining us in each yoga class. Stuffed legos from Legoland and various other animals were introduced and placed on the baby yoga mat. Ester (above) brought her stuffed elephant, which we found out used to be her brothers (or so he said). We were all then inspired to get Babar's Yoga for Elephants off the children's book shelf. If you have ever read the book you know it is impossible to read and practice all the postures in one class so we will need to revisit this one day. We barely had time for snack and Treasure Box. A great yoga class, practicing the character trait of respect.

Yoga Alliance YTT 200 Teacher Training

Yoga Alliance Approved YTT 200 hour Teacher Training. The Lifespan Yoga YTT for Gentle Yogis is custom tailored for Yogis I meet every day. I have a training room with chairs and couches, a kitchen and spacious yoga room to make YTT possible for people with special conditions. YTT 200 is planned for very small groups to enhance learning, and run over two month period. In addition to the classic curriculum required by the Yoga Alliance, trainees will be exposed to yoga for many special needs and conditions. I can also offer private, intensive YTT 200 for very experienced yogis and in 2013 the popular 9 month weekend program will begin.

Yama and Niyama: Big Focus at Lifespan Yoga

Brad's Notebook has a short and sweet explanation of Yama and Niyama, the starting place of yoga practice. http://www.bradpriddy.com/yoga/yamani.htm.

This is an important focus in classes but also one of the first things we cover in YTT 200 at Lifespan Yoga.

KIDS YOGA CAMP

Lifespan Yoga™ is offering a special children’s yoga program this summer at 12276-207 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Fl 32223. Camp will be held 9:30am- noon on specific days and cost $20 per child, per session. Children above the age of four are welcome. Each day will have a schedule of yoga, relaxation, music, character education, snack, and crafts. We will explore each of the internationally embraced character strengths of Wisdom, Courage, Humanity, Justice, Temperance, and Transcendence.

Psychologists have identified six broad categories of character strengths respected by cultures throughout the world. These categories are:

1.                          wisdom (cognitive strengths like love of learning, creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, judgment, perspective taking)

2.                          Courage (strengths of the will like bravery, persistence, integrity, and enthusiasm)

3.                          Humanity (interpersonal strengths like love, caring, kindness, and social intelligence)

4.                          Justice (civic strengths like citizenship, fairness, and leadership)

5.                          Temperance (strengths of self-control like forgiveness, mercy, humility, modest, prudence)

6.                          Transcendence (strengths that provide meaning like spirituality, faith, purpose, humor, hope, and gratitude, wonder). Each person is said to excel in one or two of these broad categories by exhibiting the related character strengths.
